Restore and Repair Silversmiths need to be skilled in all aspects of manufacturers styles, from the techniques used century's ago and the Arts and crafts smiths to the modern-day semi-mass produced articles.
An example of the diverse selection of skills also necessary are, detailed woodworking for making handles, knobs, cigar box linings, working with old ivory and tortoise-shell goods, velvet and cloth skills for trinket box linings and covering picture frames etc. Also the skills needed to finish the item's are polishing, plating and the various antique finishes sometimes required.
